Event Description

We are delighted to host this Virtual Book Launch on Rest Less Events and look forward to welcoming Berit Lewis for the Q&A, hosted by Aideen.

About the Book

Paradoxically most books and articles about ageing give you advice on how to avoid it. We are told to stay, feel and look young for as long as possible. There is a narrative in our culture that says that ageing is a bad thing.

In her new book 'Ageing Upwards', author Berit Lewis challenges the old story about life being all downhill from 50. Combining her extensive experience in teaching mindfulness with her knowledge of how to live and age well, she argues that we should stop resisting ageing. Instead, we can learn to embrace all of life – pleasures as well as pain and thereby gain a much richer, more resilient and thriving later life. Rather than wait for society to solve the challenges of longevity, she invites us to explore what each of us can do to take responsibility for our own life and ageing process.

Meet the Author

Berit Lewis is the owner of Thriving Life, offering talks, workshops, courses and retreats in mental well-being for individuals and workplaces. As well as being an experienced and accredited Mindfulness Teacher, she holds a BA (Honours) in Psychology, a MSc in Vitality and Ageing and a MA in Communication and has carried out research into mindfulness-based vitality & ageing in cooperation with Leiden University Medical Centre (LUMC) and Leyden Academy of Vitality and Ageing in the Netherlands.

At the event, you will have the opportunity to ask Berit questions. If you are unable to attend the event live, you can still sign up to receive the recording.

Upon signing up to this event, you will receive a 25% discount for purchasing the book. (Once you have booked this event- return to this page to find the event resources and see the link for the code)

Meet the Host, Aideen Clarke

As a Sales Manager at Rest Less, Aideen has worked with brands in the over 50s space for a number of years and loves supporting them to engage with this demographic effectively. Having worked with clients across a broad range of sectors from health to publishing and travel to food and drink she loves the diversity of her job. She also enjoys hearing from our members directly at our events, and learning what is important to them.

Preparing for the Event

For the best experience, you will need to have Zoom downloaded onto your computer. Please ensure you're connected to broadband/wifi rather than using your mobile phone connection (3G/4G).

We also recommend that pets are either calmly sitting on your lap or in another room, and any refreshments you may require are within your reach!

Resources

Ageing Upwards: Online Book Launch has supplementary learning materials provided by the event host. Once you book an event, you will get access to these resources.

More Information

What if I can’t make the event?

If a recording’s available for the event, you can still register for it and we will send you an email with a link to a recording shortly after it ends.

Will my camera be on and will I be visible to the other people?

Your camera and microphone does not need to be on for you to enjoy the event. The choice about whether to do this is completely yours.

How do I watch the live event?

Rest Less events are hosted on Zoom, a computer application that allows you to attend online events just by clicking a link. For detailed instructions, please go to our "FAQ" page, which you can find a link to in the nav bar at the top of the page.

How do I sign-up for and access the recording? (Recorded events only)

Book the event as normal (as if you are attending live). After the event ends you will automatically receive a post-event email with a link to the recording, as long as the event was recorded. You do not need to do anything else and there is no separate booking process for recordings only. Please note it can take up to 24 hours for Zoom to process recordings.
