- DURATION 60 mins
Queen Victoria's Consort is made up of some of the country’s leading early brass musicians and brings to life a stunning collection of museum quality original 19th Century brass instruments. These are one of the finest playing collections in private hands; it is a pleasure to introduce audiences to these antique musical treasures.
The ensemble is delighted to share with the Mirthy community their latest video ‘Marches & Mendelssohn’. This mini concert was recorded in the beautiful chapel of Girton College, Cambridge and brings to life original 19th century brass instruments, playing brand new arrangements by Cliff Bevan. Cliff is a true polymath, having been principal tuba in the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic orchestra and pianist and arranger for the world famous Temperance seven. Cliff also wrote the complete history of the Tuba family and was a huge inspiration to Andy Kershaw to enter the world of historical brass.
Andy will introduce the ensemble, the concert and the fantastic instruments that Queen Victoria’s Consort uses, a truly living museum.
