Event Description

Bereavement and loss are universal experiences that will touch all of us at some point. While they are often among our greatest fears, none of us are able to avoid losing people integral to our lives.

In this talk, we will explore how ritual can serve as a powerful tool for processing grief. We’ll delve into the role of ritual in our lives, examine death rituals from various cultures around the world, and reflect on some of our own personal rituals around loss.

Trigger Warning: This topic can be deeply triggering for everyone. Grief, in all its forms, is something we all carry with us, whether we are actively grieving or not. If you have recently experienced a bereavement, please approach this talk with care, and take time for your emotional wellbeing.

  • Duration: 60 mins
  • Online Zoom event: Join from your computer, phone or tablet (a recording will be available)

Meet the Host, Sarah

Sarah is an art therapist, artist, and creator of nature visualisations. Living in the North York Moors, she has a passion for nature, soothing activities and finding ways to feel connected. She reconnected with art-making 20 years ago after becoming ill and found that art-making and soothing activities made a huge difference to her emotional and physical health. This led her to train as an art therapist, graduating with her MA in 2011. Bringing a sense of soothing and feeling connected has remained her primary focus in her work and life.
