After completing a History degree, Karen Evans taught in Primary schools before retiring in 2015. She has written two ‘Grim Almanac’ books for the History Press and currently write for Family Tree Magazine on all things genealogical! Karen's love and enthusiasm for history was the impetus for all her talks, be it Regency dancing or using DNA in her own research.
Preparing for the Event
For the best experience, you will need to have Zoom downloaded onto your computer. Please ensure you're connected to broadband/wifi rather than using your mobile phone connection (3G/4G).
We also recommend that pets are either calmly sitting on your lap or in another room, and any refreshments you may require are within your reach!

The speaker's enthusiasm for her subject was infectious. Her breadth of knowledge and attention to detail was most impressive. She tried to share as many different aspects of Regency dancing as time allowed. A really enjoyable event. The Mirthy host made everyone feel welcome.

I loved this talk. The speaker was so knowledgeable and passionate about Regency dancing. I learnt a lot and hope that renders period dramas even more enjoyable for me.

Very interesting talk. Loved the video clips. Having done a lot of English Country dancing in my time, including many a Playford dance, I was minded to get up and join in!. The information regarding Thomas Wilson and his dance etiquette was fascinating. The talk also cleared up for me the question of waltzing and when it was introduced. Thanks again for providing an enjoyable hour's listening/watching.
