Event Description

This session aims to give an insight into the powerful world of Music Therapy. The calming or invigorating effects of music are well known, but did you know that music-based interventions have been scientifically proven to transform lives? For example, Music Therapy can help survivors of stroke to regain their speech; it can assist children with Autism to develop social skills; combat mental health issues and so, so much more.

Join Senior Neurologic Music Therapist Serenna Wagner who will explain more about this incredible modality, give a practical demonstration and share some simple techniques that you might like to use in every day life.

  • Duration: 60 mins
  • Online Zoom event: Join from your computer, phone or tablet (no replay available)

Meet the Host, Serenna Wagner

Serenna Wagner works as both a Neurologic Music Therapist and Opera Singer. She is passionate about helping people in a way that is both creative and effective through Music Therapy, drawing upon her training as a classically trained musician and multi-instrumentalist. She has a diverse clinical case load including those recovering from brain injuries; children with challenges arising from neurodiversity and those with physical and psychological difficulties. Combining her areas of expertise, Serenna has been especially successful with using interventions that deploy singing as a way of helping clients with aphasia or those who are non-verbal for other neurological reasons to regain speech. During her career, Serenna has worked in mainstream and SEND schools, rehabilitation centres, in clients' homes and online. She is a popular Therapist at CHROMA Arts Therapies and has recently started her own company 'This Inner Voice', bringing beautiful music in the form of powerful therapeutic interventions to as many people as she can.
