Since joining Mirthy in November 2020, it has been a pleasure and a privilege to expand the range of events and build up the community of hosts you see today. Starting out as Community Manager, I was hugely excited by the potential of online events and we shortly began adding music concerts, fitness classes and Book Club to the existing weekly talks.

It is through running the Book Club, interviewing authors each month, and supporting the Writing Group that I have been able to develop my love of literature and joy for lifelong learning. So, with a heavy heart, it's for these reasons that I have decided to leave Rest Less to pursue my love of literature and education by training as a secondary-school English Teacher.

In September, I will be starting a PGCE in Secondary Education at Bristol University. To prepare myself for life in the classroom, I am leaving Rest Less Events to start work as a teaching assistant and my last full-working day is Friday 31st March. However, I will be running the Book Club for a final time on 6th April (an open book-related games session) and Desert Island Discs on 11th April, so I look forward to seeing some of you there!

It has been such a joy to get to know so many of you through the world of Mirthy/Rest Less. I’ve been continuously humbled by the kindness and support shown in this community. I leave community groups with a full heart, feeling so honoured to have met so many wonderful, interesting, and talented people. You are what makes the community the place to be!

I have relished working with our wonderful hosts to support them to provide fantastic talks, classes, and workshops through Zoom and have no doubt that this will only continue to grow and thrive in the incredibly capable hands of Mahalia who is taking on the running of events.

Thank you for everything you all bring to the community. From the smiles on Zoom to the lovely comments from people all over the world in the chat area to the thoughtful reviews and Facebook posts, it’s your eagerness to learn and passion for community that makes the Rest Less Events (Mirthy) community everything it is.

Wishing you all the very best for the future and thank you for all the kindness and support over the last few years. I have learnt so much about start-ups, entrepreneurialism, technology, and running events. But I have also learnt more about life, community, strength, and resilience thanks to you all - thank you!
