Event Description

Renaissance Drawings

26th September

Drawing was an indispensable part of an artist’s training and preparation for a painting and can give us insights into how artists worked. It increasingly became an art form to be collected and appreciated in its own right.

Renaissance Prints

2nd October

This period also saw developments in different techniques of printing that could disseminate an artist’s work more widely. The process for woodcuts, engravings and etchings will be explained and the different effects that each method could achieve.

  • Duration: 60 mins
  • Online Zoom event: Join from your computer, phone or tablet (a recording will be available)

Meet the Host, Antonia Cevizli

Antonia Gatward Cevizli has a PhD in Art History from the University of Warwick. Her research and publications focus on Renaissance Italy and cultural exchange with the Islamic World. However, her interests are broad and she has taught a wide chronology of Art History at Sotheby’s Institute of Art; Sabancı University, Istanbul and across the collections of both Tate Modern and Tate Britain. She lectures for a number of institutions including the V&A Academy and The Courtauld summer school. She enjoys introducing people to different periods of art and helping them to gain a greater enjoyment of Art History.
