Event Description
The Beatles Ashram, also known as Chaurasi Kutia, lies in the city of Rishikesh on the eastern bank of the River Ganges in the foothills of the Himalayas.
During the 1960s, as the International Academy of Meditation, it was the training center for students of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, gaining the world's attention in 1968 when the English rock band, The Beatles, studied meditation there. They arrived at the Ashram on February 16, 1968, and during their stay, they wrote and composed some of their most popular songs, including songs for their self-titled double album - "White Album." The site was abandoned in the 1990s and reverted to the local forestry department in 2003. The site was officially opened to the public in December 2015. It is now known as Beatles Ashram, and an exhibition was held in February 2018 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Beatles' arrival in Rishikesh – the Yoga capital of the world.
Roopak will take you virtually to the Beatles Ashram in Rishikesh to see this place with over 100 double-storied cave-like rooms with attached toilets for yogis, disciples, and students. There are several administration buildings, a kitchen, dining area, post office, reception, conference halls, meditation halls, and a temple with wall paintings of The Beatles members and their activities.
Roopak will also play some of The Beatles’ best-known songs during the tour. If you are a fan of The Beatles, do not miss this one!
