Event Description

In February 1957 the BBC first broadcast its pioneering pop music show The Six Five Special. This kicked off a trend for such shows which has lasted till the present day. Join David Turnbull on a journey from The Six-Five Special in the 1950s to The Tube in the 1980s via Ready Steady Go, Top of the Pops, The Old Grey Whistle Test, Supersonic and more. Relive those oldies but goodies with the stories of the shows and pop songs that defined their eras.

  • Duration: 60 mins
  • Online Zoom event: Join from your computer, phone or tablet (a recording will be available)

Meet the Host, David Turnbull

David Turnbull is an accredited guide with the Lambeth Tour Guides’ Association. His guided walks ‘Lambeth Fantastical’ explore popular culture of the 20th Century in film, television, literature and pop music and their links to South London. Supplementing these walks is a monthly Lambeth Fantastical blog. He is the author of HUSks, a near future dystopian novella and One Hundred Predictions, a collection of fantasy and sci-fi flash fiction, and the Dragon Breath Chronicles, a steampunk adventure.

Your camera and microphone does not need to be on for you to enjoy the event. The choice about whether to do this is completely yours.
