Event Description

Part 1 Gloucester
Once one of medieval England's most powerful monasteries, and one of the finest examples of English Gothic architecture, Gloucester Cathedral has a history full of fascinating stories. One of very few places to have been both the location for a coronation and the final resting place of a king, it has an incredible number of royal links. But that's not all - the cathedral also provides us with stories of female education, USA patriotism and much more besides. Join me to explore this fascinating and beautiful building.

Part 2 Worcester
From Vikings to Victorians, Worcester Cathedral has a fascinating history that spans the centuries. The resting place of a king, a boy who was born to be king, a Prime Minister and two English saints, the building has witnessed turbulent and testing times. In this talk, I will share some of its most interesting stories with you, including its links to one of our most famous English composers and its role in the Civil War.

  • Duration: 2 x 60
