Event Description
Incredible Edible (and Drinkable) Plants
We're told that eating plants is good for us; this talk explores how. Taking examples of some vegetables and fruits, we'll look at the ways plants contribute to our enjoyment of the foods we eat and the drinks we drink by providing flavour, colour and texture. They can also benefit our health as a source of valuable medicinal chemical compounds. We'll also explore some of the cultural and criminal connections of our plant foods.
More Incredible Edible (and Drinkable) Plants
This talk will expand on the ideas introduced in the first talk by looking at other food plants, including some we often neglect. We'll consider the thorny question of to cook or not to cook and explore the idea of superfoods. We might be deterred from eating some plants due to the unwanted consequences and we'll explore what we can do to allow us to better understand and enjoy these rogues.
The two talks can be consumed singly but are complementary. By the end, you'll never look at the plants in your diet in quite the same way again.

Preparing for the Event
For the best experience, you will need to have Zoom downloaded onto your computer. Please ensure you're connected to broadband/wifi rather than using your mobile phone connection (3G/4G).
We also recommend that pets are either calmly sitting on your lap or in another room, and any refreshments you may require are within your reach!
