Meet the Host, Tony Davis

Dr Davis is a friendly grandfather who retired from Medicine 20 years ago. During his professional career, he mainly taught students and clinicians. Although employed in clinical or academic roles, his mathematics degree has led to much of his teaching being mathematical and informal. It was storytelling.

Since retiring, he has worked as a tutor for those who want to achieve excellent examination results, such as entry to a competitive school or an elite university course. He uses off-piste topics to illustrate mathematical or scientific subjects, and these have provided material for his lectures.

He began lecturing at U3A but has expanded to include Rotary, Probus, History Societies, and cruise ships. Topics include “The Year with No Summer”, “Can We Live Forever?”, “Who Governs Britain?”, “The Evolution of Society.” “Shackleton’s Expeditions.”, “How Did The Kings Find Bethlehem.” “Babies are Smarter Than You Think” and more.

His wife describes him as an inveterately curious man.
