- DURATION 60 mins
Event Description
Having a base in the Dordogne gave me lots of opportunities to explore the many exciting places in western France which were en route, from the Channel crossings. From Carnac to Chartres, Le Mans to Limoges, Santander to St Pantaly, I travelled Autoroutes, Route Nationale, and D roads, giving me the chance to stop and visit so many fascinating cities, cathedrals, and ancient sites, all within easy reach of my journey and often providing an overnight stop. These were the much-travelled routes, some very familiar, some new and exciting, so that I could anticipate revisiting hotels, restaurants, and often very well-designed Aire de Repos, so that my journeys through France were always pleasurable, and all this I want to share with you.

Malcolm began his career as a pharmaceutical apprentice at the age of 15 in 1948, the same time as the introduction of the National Health Service. Following his graduation with a degree in Pharmacy, his work took him to many parts of Britain including 17 years in Salisbury where he was very much involved with the Cathedral and life of the city.
Throughout his career, Malcolm has always had a keen interest in Art, History, and Music so following his retirement he was able to develop these interests to give illustrated lectures to numerous local groups including Rotary, U3A, and WI’s, and for the past 6 years has also given presentations on Cruise ships with Saga and Fred Olsen, sailing to exotic destinations around the World. His presentations are always compiled for as wide an audience as possible and include an amazing collection of images and usually incorporate musical interludes to accompany the subject.
