Event Description

Through my work as a conservationist and my travels as an adventurer I have experienced, first hand, not only the way the world is changing but also the ways in which people are working to preserve it. In this talk we will explore the eco-systems at risk from climate change and the 6th mass extinction as well as those people and organisations working at the sharp edge of species survival. In doing so, we will discover ways in which we can all play a part in ensuring our natural world persists.

The talk will follow my journeys to:

  • Zambia
  • Zimbabwe
  • Kyrgyzstan
  • Thailand
  • Vietnam
  • Duration: 60 mins
  • Online Zoom event: Join from your computer, phone or tablet (no replay available)

Meet the Host, Tom Hicks

Tom is a conservationist and adventurer with an Msc in Wildlife Conservation, including experience in wildlife film-making, his ambitions are to explore the natural world and, in doing so, shine a light on conservation theatres, the species being protected and those undertaking this important work. Tom also works to provide the route for everyone to become change makers in the fight against mass extinction. His most recent expedition to Lenin Peak is the latest in his series of adventures and Tom will be launching his next challenges later in 2025. Tom also hosts the Build Your Purpose podcast where he talks to a range of guests, including conservationists, explorers and adventurers to amplify the messages of conservation, adventure and positive action.
