Event Description

Janine, a Fine Art Photographer, is passionate about capturing "her" piers through photography and aerial filming. Her work explores the historical significance of these structures and contemplates their future. The talk is illustrated with both historical images and Janine's own award-winning photographs and films.

Meet the Host, Janine Kilroe

Janine Kilroe is a professional Fine Art Photographer gaining her Photography degree in 1985. She has a Postgraduate Certificate in Education and is also a Public Speaker delivering a wide range of talks and workshops. She lives in Oxfordshire.

As a photographer she has worked and travelled for many major international companies such as: Shell, The National Trust and The British Tourist Board. She has taught Photography and IT in University’s, Colleges and for 8 years in various Prisons.

Achievement Highlights: Exhibited at The Royal Academy Summer Show, Saatchi Gallery, London. The Royal West Academy Bristol twice plus many other galleries and Art Shows throughout the UK and Europe.

Including two solo exhibitions and artist in residencies at Derwent Pencil Museum, Keswick, Heritage Centre Hassocks and a three-group exhibition “Alternative Views” at West Oxford Art Society.

Her photography has been reviewed in and featured on the front cover of The British Journal of Photography, EOS Magazine, Cotswold Life, and The Oxford Times.

Her signature artwork is: To print black and white fine art photographs onto watercolour paper, then selectively reintroduce colour back into the image by hand painting using watercolour pencils and washes.

Current projects: Film photography book projects.

What if I can’t make the event?

If a recording’s available for the event, you can still register for it and we will send you an email with a link to a recording shortly after it ends.

Will my camera be on and will I be visible to the other people?

Your camera and microphone does not need to be on for you to enjoy the event. The choice about whether to do this is completely yours.

How do I watch the live event?

Rest Less events are hosted on Zoom, a computer application that allows you to attend online events just by clicking a link. For detailed instructions, please go to our "FAQ" page, which you can find a link to in the nav bar at the top of the page.

How do I sign-up for and access the recording? (Recorded events only)

Book the event as normal (as if you are attending live). After the event ends you will automatically receive a post-event email with a link to the recording, as long as the event was recorded. You do not need to do anything else and there is no separate booking process for recordings only. Please note it can take up to 24 hours for Zoom to process recordings.
