Event Description

Seville, Andalusia’s capital, is a popular tourist destination in Spain. There are so many sights to see and things to do that one may not always have time for a deliberate, leisurely look at some of the city’s gems. So, let’s take a break, and hang out in one of the cool patios of Seville’s Museum of Fine Arts, housed in a former 17th-century Mudéjar-style convent. While we’re there, we will peek into the surrounding galleries and discover some beautiful artwork, from paintings by important Baroque Spanish painters such as Murillo and Zurbarán to pieces depicting Spanish life in later centuries. We will leave rested and appreciative not only of these artists and their works, but also of the people and customs represented by them.

  • Duration: 60 mins
  • Online Zoom event: Join from your computer, phone or tablet (a recording will be available)

Meet the Host, Jamile

Born in Brazil, Jamile Lawand spent her formative years between the U.S. and Spain. Her fascination with language and culture led her to study Spanish, its literatures and cultures. She graduated with a Ph.D. in Romance Languages & Literatures (Spanish) from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, and taught for over twenty-five years. Her curiosity and passion for learning and engaging with others in topics of interest have continued in retirement, which is why she is enthusiastic about Rest Less Events.
